The Richmond, 144 Park Road, Glasgow – CLOSED



The Richmond has only been open a short while, but appears to have found its niche as competition to The Left Bank for food and drinks.  The drinks menu is extensive and the bar designed to tempt you further.

Breaded halloumi £5

Very nice, not too squeaky or salty! Nice “jam” more like a tomato chutney.  Crisp strong tasting onions with a fresh salad items. A light and tasty starter.



 Soup of the day £4

Described as Tuscan bean but it was actually curried though not overly spicy but chock full of mixed beans as you’d expect, lots of butter and borlotti beans. Served Piping hot and garnished with coriander, it was a pretty big portion which also came with a wedge of white bread and 2 portions of butter.

Main courses


The Richmond Burger £11

Towering scrumptious peppery burger topped with cheese, pancetta and jalapeno.  Moist burger, lovely bun, crispy chips with their skins left on and a stack of onion rings which were nice and crisp. Excellent!


Lababdar chicken curry

This was the daily special and we’re told a regular dish in one of The Richmond’s sister restaurants: The Rasoi in Lenzie, but we must confess – we’d never heard of this particular curry before. It was creamy and mild with a coriander garnish, big chunks of chicken and a mild refreshing pomegranate raita. There was too much to eat as there were two pittas as well as the bowl of rice.

Richmond_DessertMango and Pineapple Crumble £4.50

Lighter than normal crumbles with tender fruit.  More crumble topping would have been better, but a good crumble. Served with both cream and ice-cream!



Knickerbocker Glory £4.50

Entertainingly presented with sparkler so we almost felt like it was a special occasion! Real whipped cream, lovely toasted almonds with strawberry and chocolate ice cream, fruit sauce and mint. Mmm. Very creamy with some fruit at the bottom of the glass.



A flat white (£2) and cortado (£2.50) to finish.





Swish, modern interior with a good selection of items and quick & friendly service.  We enjoyed ourselves a lot and so did everyone else by the looks on their faces! It would make a good dinner-stop before the Stand comedy club and is handy for Kelvingrove underground. The number 4 bus also stops nearby.

Downsides? It’s a bit of a hike to the toilets but they are nice and clean with individual cubicles stocked with Scottish fine soap and moisturiser (so worth the trip!)
