Chris’s Kitchen Camden Review: A Proper Old-School London Café
Chris’s Kitchen in Camden is the kind of London café that we love. Friendly, unfussy, affordable and properly local. Just off Camden Road on Royal College Street, this family-run spot is a reminder that sometimes the best meals in London are not found in fancy brunch spots but in traditional cafés serving breakfast and tea in proper mugs.

Camden has no shortage of places to eat, but Chris’s Kitchen stands out because it feels genuine. This is a proper neighbourhood café, not a chain or some soulless place.
Breakfast at Chris’s Kitchen
We visited for breakfast, expect classic British café favourites: bacon, sausages, eggs, beans, mushrooms, toast and strong cups of tea or coffee. There’s also jacket potatoes, sandwiches and the traditional London caff dishes of burger and chips and liver and bacon

The full English-style breakfast is the main draw here. Eggs are cooked properly, toast is ready for mopping up, and the plate has that comforting, no-nonsense quality that makes a good greasy spoon so satisfying. The sausage wasn’t the best sausage around, however, it was a tasty one. We were very happy with our breakfast here.

A proper Camden caff
What makes Chris’s Kitchen special is the atmosphere. It feels like a place that belongs to Camden locals rather than passing trends. The décor is unfussy, the welcome is warm, and the whole place has the charm of a café that knows exactly what it is.

It is also refreshingly affordable for London. In an area where brunch can easily become expensive, Chris’s Kitchen offers a filling breakfast without the fuss or the hefty bill.
