Scottish summer produce with Scotty Brand

We joined a group of fellow food lovers at The Sisters Kelvingrove  to meet up with Scotty Brand as they celebrate summer and showcase their fresh new Scottish produce.

We were focusing on asparagus, strawberries and smoked salmon.  The Scottish asparagus season lasts just 6 weeks, so get in quick to Waitrose for some seasonal vegetables as you won’t find it in any other supermarkets!

From Angus to Glasgow via Jak O’Donnell’s cooker we had fresh asparagus which is only available for 6 weeks per year!

It wasn’t really the weather for soup today, however, a taster of Scotty Brand lentil soup was provided in an espresso cup, which tasted just like homemade soup. 🥣

Next course was potato rösti with smoked salmon, pea purée and poached egg.

A crisp rösti made with Ayrshire potatoes served on top of a lightly spiced pea purée with a generous portion of smoked salmon topped with a poached egg and a few sprigs of dill.  The smoked salmon is available in Asda stores.

Then there was a break in the eating to watch Jak O’Donnell at work making each of the courses plus a bonus salad to show that it’s not hard to make good food when you have quality ingredients.

For dessert, Greek yoghurt with strawberries and pistachio.  Again a simple dish letting the ingredients shine. From the Perthshire fields to Asda! 🍓
