The only statue of Lenin in London
We like finding odd things on our wanders, however finding a statue of Lenin in London was not something we expected!
We’ve found The Thin House, the smallest Police Station and a mosaic covered house.

Did you know that there was a plan for a housing project named after Lenin?
The building, designed by Georgian-British architect, Berthold Lubetkin, was supposed to be called Lenin Court. However, the construction was completed in 1954 and the Cold War ensured a name change to Bevin Court.

The statue to Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, best known to the world as Lenin, was planned by Finsbury Council to signify friendship between the two countries as wartime allies.
This memorial was erected in 1942 at Holford Gardens where it was vandalised many times and so removed for safe keeping.

You’ll find the only Lenin statue in London within Islington Museum – click here to read about our visit there.
