Take a look at The Thin House at Thurloe Square in South Kensington, famously measuring just 6ft wide at its narrowest point.
Located between South Kensington station and the V&A Museum is one of the most impossibly skinny blocks of flats in London -The Thin House at Thurloe Square.

It is surrounded by traditional Kensington style homes, however due to the arrival of the Metropolitan District Railway, 23 houses were sold to make room for South Kensington Station.
At the end of the development, only 1-5 Thurloe Square were demolished with the remaining buildings loosing space from their gardens. South Kensington station opened to the public in 1868.

Due to Kensington and Chelsea being known as a centre for art, artists studios were popping up in the area. A local builder, William Douglas, filled the little triangle that 1-5 Thurloe Square left behind and built seven artists’ studios.
The property is still popular today and in 2022 one of the flats sold for £775,000, according to RightMove.
