Heverlee Witte limited edition white beer

Heverlee has launched a limited edition white beer in Scotland for the summer months and last night we got a chance to catch up with Joris Brams of Heverlee to try some before they all disappear or summer ends (whichever happens sooner!).

Inspired by the delicate Vogelmelk (Star of Bethlehem) flower which features on the stained glass windows of Heverlee Abbey, the beer is the first of hopefully many seasonal beers.

At 4.8% it’s brewed with orange peel and coriander, this is definitely one for the summer.  Mrs Foodie isn’t generally a big fan of white beers but enjoyed this one.  Unsurprisingly a wee slice of lemon goes well to give it that extra summer zing.

Heverlee Witte is a lively beer with lots of bubbles in the glass.  A  big creamy head and a smooth taste led to some appreciative “aahs”.  This one would settle down quite nicely for beer garden drinking.

Heverlee Witte is now available in selected bars across Scotland.

We were invited by guests of Heverlee Beer to try out their beer.  Much drinking may have influenced our decision on liking the beer 😉  Give it a go and let us know what you think.
