Jura launches Oloroso and Manzanilla sherry cask whisky editions
A good meal doesn’t have to end when the plates are cleared. Jura’s latest whisky releases take their inspiration from sobremesa, the Spanish tradition of lingering at the table to chat with friends and family after eating.
The Jura 12 Year Old Oloroso Edition and Jura 15 Year Old Manzanilla Edition are the first bottles in a new range exploring different sherry cask finishes. Both are bottled at 46% ABV, have natural colour and are non-chill filtered, with recommended retail prices of £50 and £65 respectively.

For anyone interested in sherry cask Scotch whisky, the pair offers a chance to explore two different flavour profiles, from dried fruit and walnut to citrus, almond and a mineral edge.
Jura 12 Year Old Oloroso Edition
The 12-year-old edition begins its maturation in ex-bourbon American oak barrels before a full finish in a combination of American and European oak Oloroso sherry hogsheads.

Jura describes the result as a sweet, nutty whisky that builds on the distillery’s fruity house style. Prune, walnut and dried citrus are the three key flavours highlighted on the packaging, with caramelised walnut adding to the richer character described in the launch notes.
Jura’s tasting notes
Nose: Floral and aromatic, with peach and apricot.
Palate: Stone fruit develops into prune, with ripe citrus becoming dried and crystallised.
Finish: Dark chocolate.
With its dried-fruit and chocolate notes, this sounds like a bottle to keep in mind for an after-dinner dram.
Recommended retail price: £50.
Jura 15 Year Old Manzanilla Edition
The Jura 15 Year Old Manzanilla Edition also starts in ex-bourbon American oak barrels, followed by a full finish in Manzanilla sherry butts.
Here, Jura’s launch notes point towards a soft, fruity whisky with a mineral edge. Citrus, almond and mineral are the three headline flavours on the packaging, while the detailed notes include lemon marmalade, mandarin and a little olive brine.

Jura’s tasting notes
Nose: Citrus peel, blanched almond and freshly baked bread, with hints of gorse flower and sea spray.
Palate: Lemon marmalade and mandarin, almond brittle and a touch of olive brine.
Finish: Nectarine, toffee and vanilla pod, followed by returning notes of gorse flower and sea spray.
There’s a food pairing suggestion here too: Jura’s Lead Blender, Joe Ricketts, recommends serving the Manzanilla Edition with fresh oysters.
Recommended retail price: £65.
Both whiskies have natural colour and are non-chill filtered. The tasting notes above are supplied by Jura.
Spanish inspiration, Scottish island character
The Spanish influence carries through to the packaging, with details inspired by Andalusian mosaic tiles alongside Jura’s familiar bottle shape. Foiling and embossing finish the presentation.
The releases also continue Jura’s approach of using clear age statements and straightforward flavour descriptions, helping drinkers get an idea of what to expect before opening a bottle.
Where to buy Jura Oloroso and Manzanilla editions
Jura says both editions are available through specialist whisky shops and online retailers in the UK and mainland Europe, with recommended retail prices of £50 for the Oloroso Edition and £65 for the Manzanilla Edition.
