Forte Café Dundee: Fried Breakfast and Ice Cream Floats
Forte Café in Dundee is the kind of place we’d love to see everywhere, just like they used to.
Located on Dura Street, this traditional café is known for breakfast rolls and wonderfully nostalgic ice cream float drinks. It’s the kind of place we dream about. Proper fonts and food.

We visited Forte to try their famous filled rolls, but there were Nae Rolls left when we arrived.
So we just had to order breakfast to share, we needed to leave enough space for our floats!
Forte Café Dundee
Forte has an old-school charm that is becoming harder to find. It feels relaxed, friendly and familiar, with a proper community café atmosphere. This is not a glossy brunch spot with tiny portions and fancy foam. Forte is all about good, filling food, friendly service and traditional café favourites.
These photos are from after the rush, it was that busy we had to sit outside.

Menu

Fried breakfast at Forte Café
The fried breakfast was everything you want from a classic cafe breakfast, freshly cooked, hot and satisfying. The tattie scone added that essential Scottish breakfast touch. It was a filling plate without being ridiculous, making it ideal for starting a day in Dundee.

Ice cream float drinks
One of the highlights of visiting Forte Café is trying one of their ice cream float drinks. These are proper retro treats, with fizzy juice topped with creamy ice cream. We opted for a Vimto one and an Irn Bru one.

It was pure nostalgia in a glass. The ice cream slowly melted into the fizzy drink, creating a sweet, creamy and fizzy combination that feels wonderfully old-fashioned.
If you grew up with ice cream floats, this will bring back memories. If you have never tried one before, Forte is a great place to start.
