Choux and Brew Shawlands Glasgow

A warm welcome to new Southside Patisserie and coffee spot

We popped into Choux and Brew before Christmas and normally we post Glasgow reviews onto Glasgow Foodie, but this one is worth a mention on here as well.

Chef Wendy and her cousin Michael have always wanted to make a go of their own business. Wendy has worked as a pastry chef with names such as Martin Wishart, The Balmoral in Edinburgh and The Dakota in Glasgow. plus with the pastry team at Michelin-starred Hakkasan in London.

We just thought it was a new little cafe! After chatting with Wendy and Michael, we were excited. What was just a wander out for fresh air and a sandwich turned into hot chocolate, sandwiches, cake and chat.

Menu

The only menu we saw was for the drinks. Here is what to expect below.

Everything is freshly made daily so a mixed array of sandwiches and pastries.

What we ate

Two sandwiches, one pastrami and slaw (good peppery bits on the pastrami) and a chicken and bacon. Chewy and filling sandwiches were just what was needed. Alongside this, we had a lemon meringue pie and a Paris Brest. This is a choux pastry bun filled with hazelnut praline chocolate mousse and topped with caramel sauce. As if that wasn’t enough sugar, I had a hot chocolate and Mark a flat white (boring).

We will be back for more cakes as these were delicious. Service was friendly and welcoming.

A three-paw rating for those cakes ❤️
