Brasserie at Cottage in the Wood, Malvern Review
Looking for an honest Brasserie Cottage in the Wood Malvern review? During our stay in the Malvern Hills, we dined at the Brasserie to see whether it lives up to its reputation for seasonal food with a view.
Set within Cottage in the Wood, this relaxed dining space offers a more casual alternative to the hotel’s award-winning 1919 restaurant, but still promises quality ingredients and thoughtful cooking.

About The Brasserie at Cottage in the Wood
Located on the slopes of the Malvern Hills, the Brasserie at Cottage in the Wood combines panoramic countryside views with a menu focused on seasonal British produce. The setting is hard to beat, making it a popular choice for visitors looking for where to eat in the Malvern Hills.
What We Ate at The Brasserie
Starters
To begin, we ordered the Cashel blue cheese salad and a duck leg scotch egg.

The scotch egg was a highlight, with rich, flavourful duck meat wrapped around a perfectly cooked egg, offering a crisp exterior and a satisfying, indulgent centre. The Cashel blue cheese salad was served with Blacksticks Blue cheese instead, which I also like. The crisp salad and caramelised walnuts balanced bold cheese flavours with freshness, making it a lighter but still memorable starter.
Mains
For mains, we chose the loin and belly of pork with black pudding and a Knightwick fillet steak.
The pork dish delivered on texture, combining tender and juicy meat and the added depth of black pudding. Meanwhile, the fillet steak was cooked as requested, showcasing quality produce with minimal fuss.

Prices and Menu Overview
The Brasserie sits in the mid to high price range, reflecting both the quality of ingredients and the prime Malvern Hills location. While not inexpensive, the experience feels aligned with a countryside hotel setting rather than a casual pub.
