Billingtons of Lenzie had a phenomenal amount of customer nominations during the voting period. Not only the volume of nominations stood out, but also the enthusiasm from their customers.

One of them commented:

“A lovely selection of food, amazing array of wines and beers and the most friendly and helpful staff!! They have regular drink and food tasting with experts to guide you in your choice of wines and beers. Excellent deli!"

The Show’s blogging community were set the task of mystery shopping the most nominated delis. They looked out for the variety and range of local and international produce, quality of facilities, customer service and atmosphere too. The results from this showed that Billingtons stood out amongst the competition.

Katy Truss of Fabulous Food Finds visited Billingtons and the most popular nominated delis including Roots and Fruits, Peckhams and Delizique.

She said: Billington’s had a fantastic range of local and Scottish produce along with delicacies from further afield. They had an impressive selection of alcoholic drinks, including prosecco on tap! The cafe serves great coffee, sandwiches made with fresh deli items and a unique cold stone to mix ice creams with various toppings. They also run popular cookery workshops and tasting evenings too. The staff were friendly and had excellent product knowledge too.”

“This was a really great contest to judge. There was a great range of applications from all over Glasgow but Billingtons of Lenzie really stood out with plenty of enthusiastic nominations from customers. I was impressed with the way they work with their local community and get customers involved in tasting and making too. It’s a superb destination for local shoppers and we’re really excited to see what they will bring to the Show."
