We'll be joining Bay City Roller front-man Les McKeown in judging the 16th World Scotch Pie Championships which will take place at Carnegie Conference Centre, Halbeath Road, Dunfermline, KY11 8DY on Tuesday 11th November 2014.

Run by the Scotch Pie Club, this years competition will see some 100 butchers and bakers from Shetland to Stranraer deliver their pies, pasties and bridies to Dunfermline where they will battle it out for pie supremacy.

In addition to Scotch pies, contestants will be entering their best sausage rolls, speciality savouries, Scottish football pie, apple pies and savouries.

Bay City Roller front-man Les McKeown will once again take up the difficult task as pie tester. Les said: “I was honoured to be asked to join the panel of judges for this iconic competition. I believe I will be taking on the Scotch Pie category this year and the stakes are high. So in this category in particular we are looking for something really special that stands out from the crowd.”

2014 winner Stephen McAllister from The Kandy Bar of Saltcoats said “I was delighted when we were announced as the winner and to have been able to call our Scotch Pies the WORLD CHAMPION as judged by a panel of experts has made a huge and positive impact on our business in the last year. The award was proof that The Kandy Bar team are the best in the land and we have gone from strength to strength."

The competition is supported by Scottish Bakers and the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders. Both trade associations actively support and promote bakers and butchers in Scotland by encouraging and sharing best practise.

The competition is sponsored by wholesaler to the food industry, Bako Northern and Scotland. http://www.bakoscotland.co.uk/
