Split, the second largest city in Croatia, may be visited less by tourists than Dubrovnik, however, we feel that Split is worth visiting. So, here are five reasons to visit Split in Croatia.

1 Sunshine
There are more than 2,600 hours of sunshine a year here. In Winter, temperatures can reach a high of 20°C.

2 The food
All that sun leads to al fresco dining and delicious fresh Dalmatian cuisine. As with other Mediterranean countries, there is fresh seafood abound.

3 Visit Marjan Hill
For a stunning view of the city and coastline, a walk up Marjan Hill is recommended. The hill is 178 meters (578.8 feet) high, so wear some good walking shoes!

4 Peristyle Square
Peristyle square is the heart of the ancient city of Split and the central square of the Palace for the Emperor Diocletian.

5 Relax on the Riva
The Riva is the name of the promenade in Split. From here you can see the south facade of the Diocletian Palace and the Franciscan monastery or enjoy a peaceful afternoon relaxing in one of the many cafes and restaurants lining the seafront.
