The California Hotel, Kings Cross, London

27/04/2022 by Emma Leave a Comment

Where we checked out and got to leave!

Located minutes away from King Cross and St Pancras Railway Stations, as well as a short walk from Euston Railway Station, The California Hotel is ideally situated for those travelling on an early Eurostar train, or for those needing to be near transport for easy exploration.

Checking in was simple, the only downside is the lack of a lift to the upper floors, which is a hassle as the stairways are tight especially when carrying luggage.

The reception area is decorated in a unique style, a mixture of industrial and Art Deco. I especially liked the old travel posters dotted around.

Room

This double bedroom has a tv, tea and coffee making facilities and an en-suite bathroom. Not as funky looking as their website leads you to think, but tidy. There were some minor scuffs and bits missing from the flooring, but if you are looking for a base that is near transport this is ideal.

Verdict

Ideally situated for Kings Cross Railway Station, St Pancras International Railway Station and Eurostar, London Underground and bus services as well as a short walk from Euston Railway Station. Being so close to a busy area, The California Hotel was surprisingly quiet. (top tip tho try and avoid Crestfield Street beside Mcdonald's as it seems to attract a raucous crowd)

Would recommend if needing somewhere to stay for an early Eurostar.
