Make your own gin at Still River Gin School

A masterclass in gin making

A school which starts with a glass of gin and tonic and ends with you taking home a bottle of freshly-distilled gin – if only every training session was like this! We were greeted with a warm welcome and a Still River gin and tonic by Still River brand ambassador Ryan Rhodes. Cheers!

Well, you’ll soon find out here…

Pick your botanicals – you get to smell and taste each one – once you’ve decided on the type of flavour you want your own gin to be.  Something spicy? Maybe more floral?  There’s a seemingly unlimited array of flavour combos.   Ryan has completed classes where the gins created tasted like chocolate, Turkish delight and ginger ale so really the sky is the limit for flavours!

In no time at all our gin started pouring out of the still.  At the end of distillation we tested it for taste, using a hydrometer to check the ABV (Alcohol by volume), then we filled our bottle and hand signed our very own gin label!

What an afternoon!  Gin making was something we had never tried but was a lot of fun. Even hardened gin lovers will learn something new at this gin school.  Ryan was an excellent host and teacher, with a relaxed and fun class.
