Fischer’s, Marylebone, London – Review

Fischer’s Marylebone London

Vienesse finesse in Marylebone

Visiting Fischer’s in Marylebone, London is like stepping into a Viennese coffee house.  We visited for breakfast and will surely be back again to try more of the menu at Fischer’s.

Outside Fischer’s Marylebone London

We booked in for breakfast just as Fischer’s opened, 7:30 am, as we had travelled to London on the Caledonian Sleeper.

Inside Fischer’s Marylebone London

We visited Cafe Central in Vienna (famous for being the coffee spot over the years for Hitler, Sigmund Freud, Trotsky and more!) and this was just like being there, but without the throngs of tourists – although we were here early.

Even the mountain goats had their masks on.

We really liked the little bits of kitsch Austria around.

Food

We really couldn’t visit a Viennese coffee house without having a coffee.  It was too early for me so Mr Foodie stepped up with an einspanner, mainly for the name!  This is a Viennese coffee with added fresh cream.   I ordered a pot of Earl Grey tea.

Mr F was starving, so a proper Austrian mountain breakfast was ordered. Bacon Gröstl which has paprika fried potatoes & onions with bacon and fried egg. Suitably paprika and crispy potatoes with a fried egg just looking to having potatoes dipped into.

The grilled asparagus and crushed peas on rye with poached egg kept pulling me towards it, so the menu gods had chosen for me.  Beware that the eggs are warm atop chilled peas and asparagus.  A healthy and filling breakfast here.  Far too healthy a start of the day for me!  I would certainly get this again as the ingredients were fresh and worked well together.

Toilet check

Of course the obligatory toilet check.  Clean and swish, as expected, toilets.
