Event Preview: Best of The West Festival, Inverary

08/09/2017 by Emma Leave a Comment

There’s no risk of festive-goers going hungry at this weekends Best Of The West Festival (BOWFest) – the family-friendly festival held in the grounds of the magnificent Inveraray Castle from 8-10th September 2017.

That’s because its popular Food Tent is jam-packed this year with a whole host of delicious delicacies from Argyllshire, including: Winston Churchill Venison; Loch Fyne Oysters; Visit Arran; Real Mackay Stovies; JR Fine Foods; Home Ground Coffee; Nomad Pizza; Shellfield Farm; Aye Love Real Food; Luss Smokehouse; Coast; Wee Isle Dairy Ice Cream and home baking from the Inveraray Castle Tearoom.

And if all that wasn’t enough to tempt the tastebuds of the most devoted foodie, then The Best of the West Festival Kitchen will no doubt do the trick.Sponsored by the Luss Smokehouse, the live kitchen runs throughout the weekend and features: Masterchef: The Professionals 2016 winner Gary Maclean; Graeme Cheevers, head chef of Restaurant Martin Wishart, Cameron House Hotel, Loch Lomond and Paul Leonard, head chef at The Isle of Eriska Hotel Restaurant, both Michelin star restaurants.

Meanwhile, music headliners at the festival include: Eddi Reader, Skerryvore, Skipinnish, Blazin' Fiddles, Hunter and the Bear and Tide Lines. Eleanor, Duchess of Argyll, Best Of The West Festival chairperson, said: “Whatever your taste in music or food, Best Of The West offers something for everyone and this year looks set to be the biggest and best yet!” Inveraray Castle, the jewel in the West Highland’s crown, provides a stunning venue for the event, which is fully under cover. The imposing, turreted castle, sits on the edge of Loch Fyne surrounded by the breath-taking scenery of the west coast. The Festival will take place in the grounds of the castle with the castle itself, hills and loch as a backdrop.

This year Best of the West Festival has teamed up with West Coast Motors to provide packages that incorporate special festival bus transport as well as entrance to the festival to and from Glasgow, Oban and Dunoon. To book tickets go to bowfest.co.uk.
