What a delight it was to attend the launch of the Summer Courses at Edinburgh New Town Cookery School! We were treated to an absolute feast of flavours from around the world, thanks to Chef Jess Sheperd!
Principle, Fiona Burrell spoke a bit about the inspiration behind some of their new courses and how the curriculum is very much based on demand and what people are interested in learning. Also about the new range of Texturas Extra Virgin Olive Oil, along with the award winning Oleosetin Unfiltered EVOO they have for sale.
We got to taste all the lovely oils and each was different and distinct from the others. My favourite was the Oleosetin Unfiltered, the flavours were rich and complex yet still light and fresh, absolutely perfect for drizzling on Summer Salads!
Burma, Thailand, India, the Caribbean, and Indonesia are just some of the places you’ll visit on their ever popular ‘Curries from Around the World’ one day course; and no world trip would be complete without a jaunt to France on the Patisserie course. (Mrs Foodie tried out their Japanese course last year – check it out here)
For those who prefer to stay closer to home, there is a Beer and Food Matching evening in August, perfect for visitors to learn more about Scottish craft beer and what is on offer from our local producers. There’s also a half day Easy Entertaining practical for those who want to be the hostess with the mostess! You’ll cook a three course lunch to be enjoyed in their upstairs dining room.
If you have more time off over the Summer and are interested in furthering your cooking skills, there are month long courses as well as professional Diploma courses that will really take your cooking to the next level! They also offer courses for Children and Teenagers over the Summer holidays for those with budding young chefs at home.
Thanks again to Fiona and Jess for a fantastic evening!
