Cosy bars for chilly days

09/12/2013 by Emma Leave a Comment

What's better than finding somewhere you can snuggle down in with a beer and preferably a roaring fire. We hope you like these places that we like to escape into...

Merchant City

Babbity Bowster

One of Glasgow's oldest bars hidden down a street that many people still don't know about. Real ales on tap, great pub food and a fantastic restaurant upstairs. It has a smashing roaring fire in the bar.

16-18 Blackfriars St, Glasgow G1 1PE
0141 552 5055
www.babbitybowster.com

Boudoir Wine Bar

Tea lights, wine, and secluded seating (and cake!). Somewhere for a date or to rekindle your love for wine, preferably with your favourite person with you 😉

Boudoir Wine Bar, Unit E/Merchant Square/Candleriggs, Glasgow
0141 552 4774

Rab Ha's

Well known for its food, beer and fire. You'll need to get in quick to nab a fireside seat though!

Rab Ha's,83 Hutcheson Street Glasgow, G1 1SH
www.rabhas.com

West-end

The Belle

Small bar with good beer selection. A hidden gem in the west end. Real fire to cosy up to as well.

The Belle, 617 Great Western Road Glasgow, 0141 339 2299

Cottiers

Smashing fire in here as well as the (former church) architecture to keep your eye happy.

Cottiers, 93-95 Hyndland St, Glasgow 0141 357 5825
www.cottiers.com

The Finnieston

Large selection of beer and an even larger selection of gin, very popular bar with fire and excellent food.

The Finnieston, 1125 Argyle Street, Glasgow, G3 8ND
Telephone 0141 222 2884
www.thefinniestonbar.com

Munro’s

A favourite of ours. Good selection of beer, cosy chairs and beer flights - a choice of 3 different third pints of craft or cask beers presented on a taster bat.

Munro’s, 185 Great Western Rd, Glasgow G4 9EB
www.munrosglasgow.co.uk

Just outside the city centre

The Laurieston

Traditional bar with retro 50's/60's interior intact. Friendly service, library, free jukebox, hot pies, real ale from Fyne Ales and a secret room!

The Laurieston, 58 Bridge Street, Glasgow, G5 9HU

Tibo Cafe Bar

More cafe than bar but this eclectic joint just east of the centre will make you want to stay and chat forever.

Tibo Cafe Bar, 443 Duke Street, Dennistoun, Glasgow G31 1RY
www.cafetibo.com

Outside Glasgow

Montgomerie Arms

Deceptively large former coaching inn in East Kilbride's original village centre - this is the oldest pub in East Kilbride, another one with a great roaring fire!

1 Montgomery Street, East Kilbride, G74 4JS
01355 220833

The Swan Inn

Located in Eaglesham, this cosy bar is just outside the city but is within easy reach thanks to the number 4 bus route.

The Swan Inn, 23 Polnoon Street, Eaglesham, G76 0BH
01355 302673
