A week in pictures with Foodie Explorers
Mr Foodie went along to Chez Mal with the Don to see what was on offer with their new summer menu... I think it went well as he was stuffed full and had a happy face when he returned. See The Don’s review here.

Mr Foodie returned home with the awful news that Glasgow School of Art was on fire. In the scheme of things, a building going on fire isn’t heartbreaking, however, the second time in four years and just when they were getting to the final stretch of reconstruction is sad. Mrs Foodie is a big Mackintosh fan and was gutted, to say the least. Sad to see the lifelessness in Sauchiehall Street. The poor street is getting battered around just now with construction and demolitions😢
Not content with watching football all the time on TV, Mr Foodie played fives three times this week. Mrs Foodie can’t wait for the moans and groans as his muscles tell him no, please don’t do that again!.
Whilst Mr Foodie was running about like an idiot, Mrs Foodie was trying some Arizonan Wine 🍷and to see what Arizona has to offer other than the Grand Canyon – Find out more here.
So we took the opportunity to celebrate the 2nd Birthday of Shilling Brewing Co and have a pint and a pizza for £4.55! Their Black Star Teleporter was especially nice.🍻 🍕
Thursday was a busy one for Mr Foodie, he was in Edinburgh to meet Local Chef for catch-up and a visit to Brewhemia for their Howl at the moon, duelling pianos and beer. 🍻
Hurrah, it was Friday! and what better way to celebrate than with Gin! Malfy gin in Alston, love it.
Suitably celebrated, Mr & Mrs Foodie headed out West to Boclair House to see try out their summer menu. What a night for it. 🌞
Chef John Redmond has revamped the menu with a summer feel. The surroundings and the meal were top. This was Mrs Foodies first time here, Mr Foodie has sneaked in before, and she was v impressed. The Espresso Cocktail at the table beside looked good, so a cheeky cocktail on the terrace methinks.
As we are well trained by Fred, we nipped into ASDA to purchase some Scotty Brand Smoked Salmon for him. We’re totally under his wee paw.🐾
Although, we did pick up a limited edition Strawberries and Cream Baileys….oops
Weekend chill out with some football and half-time pies. Suitably, these were McIntosh Mexicana Cheese pies (purchased again from ASDA the night before we rock a Friday night!)
