Legado Shoreditch launches intimate Spanish wine tasting series this autumn
Spanish wine lovers can explore the flavours of Rioja, Sherry and Castilla y León this autumn as The Taberna at Legado in Shoreditch launches a new series of intimate guided tastings.
Following the success of its Vermouth Tasting in July, the team at Legado will host three monthly wine evenings between September and November, each focusing on a different part of Spain’s rich wine culture.
The tastings take place inside The Taberna, the tapas and pintxos bar within chef Nieves Barragán Mohacho’s Michelin-starred Legado restaurant in Shoreditch.

Spanish wine tastings in Shoreditch
Each one-hour tasting will feature five carefully selected Spanish wines, accompanied by two or three tapas dishes chosen to complement the different pours.
Guests will sit together around communal tables, creating the relaxed and sociable atmosphere associated with Spain’s traditional tabernas and wine bars.
The series will be hosted by Legado’s Head Sommelier Marcos, who will guide guests through the grapes, producers, history and winemaking traditions behind each selection.

Rioja wine tasting – 17 September
The first event takes place on Thursday 17 September and focuses on Rioja, arguably Spain’s most famous wine-producing region.
Guests will sample five Rioja wines while learning more about the region’s history, its principal grape varieties and the different approaches used by its winemakers.
Rioja is particularly famous for its oak-aged red wines, although the tasting will also look beyond the traditional styles to explore the increasingly diverse wines being produced across the region today.
Sherry and Castilla y León tastings
Two further events will follow during the autumn.
The October tasting turns its attention to Sherry, introducing guests to one of Spain’s most distinctive and historic wine styles.
November will then explore the wines of Castilla y León, home to a number of celebrated wine-producing areas and indigenous grape varieties.

- Sherry: Thursday 15 October 2026
- Castilla y León: Wednesday 11 November 2026

- Pan con Tomate
- Ham Croquetas with Manchego

With only 12 places available at each event, the tastings are designed to be small, informal and interactive rather than a formal wine lecture.
The Taberna at Legado
The tastings will be held beneath The Taberna’s distinctive fluted arched ceiling, which takes inspiration from traditional Barcelona craftsmanship.
Serving tapas and pintxos from noon until late, the Shoreditch bar provides an intimate setting for exploring Spanish food and drink while discovering a few new bottles along the way.
Tickets for the autumn Spanish wine tasting series are available through the Legado SevenRooms events page.
