Forget Norman’s and eat in the Workman’s Cafe
Continuing our London Greasy Spoon Guide with a stop in Archway at Workman’s Cafe & Restaurant. You’ll find this busy cafe a short walk from Archway tube station (Northern Line) and buses.

Inside was bright, clean with a welcoming hubub of chatter.

It seems like a popular spot for sit in and takeaway diners.

What we ate and drank
The breakfast selections are served with toast and either tea or instant coffee. Two mugs of piping hot tea were quickly delivered alongside the lavishly buttered toast.

I picked set 2, which was sausage, bacon, eggs, beans and bubble. A herby and meaty sausage, perfectly cooked fried egg, an abundance of beans, 2 slices of not too salty bacon plus the best bubble I’ve tasted in a while. Lots of creamy mash fried well.

This is the full breakfast with another perfect fried egg, sausage, bacon, beans, mushrooms and hash browns.

Mark was eyeing up the cake selection so ordered a cherry pie for his afternoon tea snack.
Verdict
Friendly and welcoming service. Filled with locals having a relaxing meal. Quick service and tasty food.
