Surge in local produce demand leads to re-design of Simon Howie shop

Scottish family butcher Simon Howie has invested in a comprehensive redesign of his Perth shop in response to a recent upsurge in demand from foodies keen to shop at independent local specialists for their produce.

Located on the Old High Street, within walking distance from the town centre, the butcher’s Perth shop is where Simon started work as a Saturday boy.

Several decades later, the shop’s gleaming worktops and fresh, customer-friendly design might be unrecognisable to the young Howie, but no expense has been spared on ensuring that the outlet remains at the cutting edge of contemporary retail design and customer service.

Simon Howie said: “Recent months have seen a burgeoning trend for discerning customers to demand certainty about the provenance of their food. Customers are increasingly demanding quality produce and, from what we have seen in Perth , are more prepared to travel in order to get what they want.

“It is imperative that we respond swiftly to such consumer trends in order to be able to accommodate their needs. To this end, we have invested in a comprehensive revamp of our Perth outlet to ensure that our customers receive the best service possible in an attractive and welcoming retail environment.

“Our Perth shop today might look radically different to the days when I worked there as a Saturday boy, but what remains unchanged is our friendly and knowledgeable staff who will happily prepare any cut of meat customers require and help advise on how best to cook it.

Simon Howie’s Perth shop is located at 270 High Street .
