News: Port of Leith Distillery launch Gin & Sherry

27/11/2018 by Emma Leave a Comment

First drinks launched by the Port of Leith Distillery

The upcoming £10 million Port of Leith Distillery has launched its first drinks with a new gin and sherry.

Lind and lime gin port of Leith Distillery

Lind & Lime Gin, named after Edinburgh’s Dr. James Lind who observed that citrus fruits prevented scurvy,  combines flavours of lime and pink peppercorn. I really like the bottle, another one for the twinkly lights when it’s empty!

The distillery has also released a sherry sourced from Bodegas Baron in Cadiz, Andalucía. The Sherry is a style of Oloroso, with zingy citrus notes, dried fruit, and nutty flavours.

Currently housed at The Tower Street Stillhouse, the future Port of Leith Distillery looks impressive. A vertical distillery with panoramic views over Edinburgh, Leith and the harbour. With finance and planning permission now secured, work will begin on the project in Spring 2019, with an opening date in Autumn 2020.
