It was spargel, asparagus, season so some white asparagus with boiled potatoes and hollandaise sauce for me.

A HUGE schnitzel with creamy mash.
and a pork knuckle, Eisbein, with sauerkraut and boiled potatoes.

How to Eat a German Pickled Egg
One of the most interesting menu items is the German pickled egg. These are commonly served in traditional pubs.
The usual way to eat one is:
- Slice the egg open
- Remove the yolk
- Add mustard, pepper or oil into the centre
- Replace the yolk
- Eat in one or two bites
It is a fun and very local snack to try with a beer or schnapps.

The Famous Schnapps Selection
One thing Dicke Wirtin is famous for is the huge schnapps collection. Bottles line the shelves behind the bar, with fruit schnapps, herbal spirits and stronger regional specialities available.
If you are unsure what to order, ask for a recommendation. It is a great way to try something local.
