Village Underground Rooftop opens in Shoreditch this July
Village Underground is opening its rooftop to the public for the first time this July, revealing a new open-air terrace above its Shoreditch venue ahead of its 20th anniversary.
We passed by earlier this month and admired the roof top tube carriages, we’ll have to return!

The new Village Underground Rooftop will give visitors access to one of East London’s most recognisable cultural venues from a completely new angle, with a terrace bar, pizza and views across the capital.
For the first time, guests will also be able to step inside the venue’s iconic tube carriages, which have long been a defining feature of the Shoreditch skyline.
Village Underground Rooftop
Known for its live music, club nights and cultural events, Village Underground has been part of Hackney’s nightlife and creative scene for almost two decades.
Set inside a renovated Victorian warehouse with atmospheric railway arches, the venue has built a reputation for supporting both emerging and established artists, as well as working with promoters, collectives and creatives from across London.
The new rooftop terrace, designed by MOBO Works, opens up a new way to experience the venue beyond its main performance space.

Access to the iconic tube carriages
One of the most exciting parts of the new space is public access to Village Underground’s famous tube carriages.
Previously used as workspace by the Village Underground team, the carriages will now be integrated into the wider rooftop area, allowing visitors to explore a part of the venue that has previously been off-limits.
Bar, pizza and East London views
The rooftop terrace will offer an open-air setting with a bar, pizza and views over East London, making it a new summer spot for drinks, food and a different perspective on Shoreditch.
Village Underground Rooftop will open on Friday 3 July and will operate Wednesday to Sunday thereafter. Sign up at villageunderground.co.uk/rooftop to be the first to hear when bookings go live.
