The diary of a broken marriage, a mental health crisis and a large marrow!

I came across The Honesty Box book while flicking through a magazine on a recent train trip.

The idea of combining a lifestyle story with food in any shape or form did catch my attention plus the design of the book cover was very appealing.

The Honesty Box  by Lucy Brazier

Over a period of several years I have seen many roadside Honesty Boxes. ‘Honesty Boxes’ are used to sell produce from a farm or residential home (usually in a country setting), such as eggs, vegetables, cakes and jams. The owners rely on customers paying for their items when there is no-one present.

The Honesty Box is a very well-written book, witty on occasions whilst giving the reader an insight into family life, a difficult marriage and a health crisis. It also feels like a love story.

The author also writes about the challenges of setting up an honesty box and navigating the difficulties of living in a small village. Many topics in this story will resonate with a lot of readers: managing a family and a home plus a high-powered job, trying to always be perfect.

The Honesty Box is an easy read and an ideal book for summer reading. Add it to your holiday read list. I am sure you will not be disappointed and you may even feel the need to set up your own honesty box as Lucy Brazier is on a personal mission to encourage more honesty boxes throughout the country.
