If you’re anything like us, there are days when cooking from scratch just isn’t happening. Enter the microwave meal and more specifically, this pouch of cheesy promise from Dolmio.
But does it deliver … or is it one to leave on the shelf?
Part of the newer Dolmio Feasts range, this is a single-serve pasta dish designed for speed and convenience – ready in just 2 minutes in the microwave.
Inside the pouch you’ll find egg coquillette pasta in a cheddar cheese sauce, with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, and it’s suitable for vegetarians
At around 233 kcal and 13g protein per pack, it sits somewhere between snack and light meal.
Straight out the pouch, this looks… beige. Very beige.
Not necessarily a bad thing for mac & cheese, but don’t expect that bubbling, oven-baked, golden-topped experience here.
The aroma is not cheesy, more school dinners rather than gastropub indulgence.
Let’s get into it. The pasta is soft, very soft, but that’s fairly standard for ready meals. No bite, but easy eating.
A creamy, if not the cheesiest of cheese, sauces. This needs more like er cheese!
This is not a full meal size either unless you’ve had a big lunch. This is definitely in the convenience over quality box. If you are looking for indulgent, gooey, restaurant-style mac & cheese, then this isn’t for you.
