Da Terra and Difference Coffee Launch Rare Brazilian Coffee Collaboration

Two-Michelin-starred restaurant Da Terra has partnered with Difference Coffee to launch an exclusive coffee collaboration featuring one of the rarest coffees ever served in a fine dining setting.

Available from 2 July, the collaboration will showcase a highly coveted Daterra Masterpiece Auction nano-lot from Brazil’s renowned Daterra Estate.

Rare Daterra Estate Masterpiece Coffee

The coffee was secured through Daterra Estate’s prestigious Masterpiece Auction, which highlights experimental and exceptionally rare lots produced in extremely limited quantities.

This particular release was both the highest-scoring and smallest lot in the auction, with just 19kg available worldwide. Rather than being produced on a commercial scale, the coffee represents a carefully controlled experiment designed to push the boundaries of speciality coffee production.

A Brazilian Coffee with a Fine Dining Connection

Based in the Cerrado region of Minas Gerais, Daterra Estate is internationally recognised for its innovative growing methods and focus on quality.

Difference Coffee, known for sourcing and roasting some of the world’s most exclusive coffees, has built a long-standing relationship with the estate and closely follows its rare releases.

The collaboration also carries personal significance for Da Terra Chef Patron Rafael Cagali, whose Brazilian heritage continues to shape the restaurant’s culinary identity.

The project creates a direct connection between his homeland and the dining experience at Da Terra. The names of both the restaurant and estate also reflect a shared philosophy rooted in the land, provenance and tradition. Da Terra means “from the earth” in Portuguese.

Flavour Notes

Rafael Cagali joined Difference Coffee founder Amir Gehl during the roasting process, helping oversee the journey from green coffee bean to finished roast.

The resulting coffee offers notes of dark cocoa, dried stone fruit and delicate citrus acidity, creating a mellow, rounded cup with a long finish.

“At Da Terra, we are always looking for ingredients that tell a story beyond the plate. As a Brazilian, it is particularly meaningful to be able to share such a rare coffee, with such a rich heritage, with our guests.”

“This release is special not only because of the coffee’s rarity but because of the collaboration behind it. Having the palate of a two-Michelin-starred chef involved in shaping the final profile is something incredibly unusual. It represents a genuine meeting of culinary and coffee craftsmanship.”

Amir Gehl, founder of Difference Coffee

Where to Try the Coffee

The rare Daterra Estate Masterpiece coffee will be served exclusively at Da Terra from 2 July, while stocks last.

It will be available to dining guests as part of the restaurant’s coffee and tea list. A very small quantity will also be available to purchase from the Difference Coffee online shop.
