The Ivy Asia to open in Glasgow as The Ivy moves to new St Vincent Place home

Glasgow is getting its first The Ivy Asia, with the restaurant due to open later this year as part of a major new dining development on St Vincent Place.

The Asian-inspired restaurant will share the historic former banking building at 30–40 St Vincent Place with The Ivy Glasgow Brasserie, which is relocating from its current Buchanan Street premises.

It will be the first Ivy Asia in Scotland and will significantly increase The Ivy Collection’s presence in Glasgow city centre.

The Ivy Asia has now confirmed the St Vincent Place address on its own website, although a firm opening date has yet to be announced.

The Ivy Asia Glasgow will be the newest addition to the group’s Asian-inspired restaurant brand, which already has locations in cities including London, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Cardiff and Dublin.

Expect a menu based around Asian-inspired dishes alongside cocktails and the colourful, highly decorated interiors that have become one of the brand’s trademarks.

The Glasgow restaurant will have space for around 96 diners.

Full menu details and opening dates are still to be confirmed.

The Ivy Glasgow is moving from Buchanan Street

Alongside the arrival of The Ivy Asia, The Ivy Glasgow Brasserie will leave its Buchanan Street location and move into the same St Vincent Place building.

The new restaurant will be considerably larger, with around 351 covers, as well as a terrace and private dining room.

The style of dining isn’t expected to change dramatically. The Ivy Glasgow will continue to operate as an all-day brasserie, serving breakfast and brunch through to lunch, dinner and cocktails.

Between the two restaurants, the St Vincent Place development will have room for more than 440 diners and is expected to create around 90 hospitality jobs.

Inside one of Glasgow’s historic bank buildings

The setting is arguably one of the most interesting things about the move.

The restaurants will occupy the former banking building at 30–40 St Vincent Place, close to George Square and Buchanan Street.

Built between 1870 and 1873 and designed by Scottish architect John Burnet Sr, the Category A-listed building is particularly notable for its former banking hall.

Its interior includes a large glazed dome, columns and arcades, with the design drawing inspiration from Renaissance architecture.

Planning permission has previously been granted for the conversion, with proposals designed to retain many of the building’s important historic features.

It should make for a rather dramatic restaurant setting and the huge former banking hall feels particularly well suited to The Ivy Asia’s fondness for theatrical interiors.

What happens to the current Ivy on Buchanan Street?

The Ivy Glasgow currently operates from 106 Buchanan Street, where it has become a familiar part of Glasgow’s city-centre restaurant scene.

The restaurant will hold its final service before relocating to St Vincent Place, at the beginning of October.

When will The Ivy Asia Glasgow open?

An exact opening date hasn’t been revealed yet, with both The Ivy Asia Glasgow and the relocated Ivy Glasgow Brasserie expected to open in autumn 2026.

The Ivy Asia’s official Glasgow page currently lists the restaurant as “coming soon” at:

The Ivy Asia Glasgow

30–40 St Vincent Place

Glasgow

G1 2HL

Opening dates, menus and further images are expected to be released in the coming weeks.

For anyone keeping track of Glasgow restaurant openings, this is certainly one of the bigger city-centre developments of the year: rather than simply adding another Ivy restaurant, the move brings two separate concepts into one of Glasgow’s more impressive historic interiors.
