Stand by me in Berlin

Have you ever loved a song so much that you’d carve it into a tree?  Well someone did within Berlin’s  Tiergarten Park.  Someone who really likes the Ben E. King song “Stand By Me”, to create the now known as Stand by me tree.  Tiergarten Park is worth a visit.  Not only is it a popular park,  its 210 hectares (520 acres) size makes it the third largest city park in Germany.

If you are exploring around here, don’t miss the Soviet War Memorial and Berlin Gas Light Museum.

Tiergarten Park BerlinIt has been neatly carved into the tree, so this certainly took some time.  We have no idea why and when this was done.  Just another quirky Berlin thing.

How to find the Stand by me tree in Berlin

Walk along this road until you reach the Victory Column.

Once you reach here, go to the park entrance to your left. Now follow the path and walk past the benches until you reach another crossroad pathway.  Keep going straight and look out for the rosegarten sign on your left – that mean’s you are going the right way!

You’ll reach another crossroads path, go straight again and keep going straight.  You’ll walk across another crossroad pathway, and here is where you will find the tree.
