New expression from Tamdhu

The Tamdhu ‘Year of the Horse’ limited edition

Tamdhu gallops into The New Year of the Horse

As the new year gallops towards us, plans are in hand from Tamdhu Single Scotch Malt Whisky team to celebrate the forthcoming Year of the Horse with the release of its latest annual whisky expression dedicated to Chinese New Year 2026.

The Tamdhu ‘Year of the Horse’ limited edition

The Tamdhu ‘Year of the Horse’ limited edition for 2026 is bottled at 53.8% ABV and is available from mid-November in the UK. RRP: £150 per 70cl bottle.

There will be a race to the finish for these bottles as there are only 300 bottles available in the UK and this is set to become a collectors’ item.

The Tamdhu ‘Year of the Horse’ limited edition

Bottled in the classic Tamdhu octagonal bottle, the outer packaging is, fittingly for Chinese New Year, in shades of red and depicts jockey and steed trotting past the Victorian Dalbeallie railway station at the Tamdhu distillery.

The makers commissioned acclaimed visual artist Page Tsou to create this special illustration for the packaging, and he has embodied in this illustration the excitement of the Year of The Horse. The horse is a symbol of strength, perseverance, and swift success; Tamdhu is dedicated to strength of purpose, perseverance, and bold success.

Iain Weir, Brand Director of Tamdhu Whisky, said: “This specially selected batch-strength bottling captures Tamdhu just as our founders intended when they established the brand on the banks of the River Spey in 1897. The deep natural colour is a gift of sherry casks and time alone, a perfect toast to determination.

“In the Year of The Horse, we honour your ambition by raising a glass to the image of the renowned eight steeds and bless your path to success in the coming year. We are guided by our unwavering pursuit of perfection, maturing every drop of Tamdhu that we release only in the finest sherry-seasoned oloroso casks from JEREZ in SPAIN.”
