Another blow for UK hospitality as Franco Manca reveals closure plans

Popular UK pizza chain Franco Manca has revealed plans to close 16 restaurants across the UK, as rising costs continue to bite across the hospitality sector.

The brand, known for its slow-risen sourdough bases and simple toppings, has built a loyal following since launching in Brixton. But now some locations are under threat as part of a major restructure.

Why are Franco Manca closing restaurants?

The closures form part of a Company Voluntary Arrangement from parent group The Fulham Shore, aimed at reducing costs and helping stabilise the business.  Like many restaurants across the UK, the chain has been hit by increasing operating costs, including wages, National Insurance, VAT and business rates.  Around 225 jobs could be affected, with the company saying some sites are no longer sustainable.
