Easy Ballymaloe style tomato relish
Simtilar to Ballymaloe relish, a simple Irish tomato relish recipe
- 800 g tomatoes chopped
- 200 g cherry tomatoes chopped
- 250 g apples chopped
- 250 g onion chopped
- 225 ml white wine vinegar
- 175 g dates chopped
- 300 g granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Add all the ingredients into a large pot.
Stir thoroughly ensuring that the sugar has dissolved.
Bring to a boil and then bring down to a simmer.
Simmer for an hour, stirring regularly.
Let the mixture cool.
Place into sterilized jars.
