Celebrate World Gin Day

Woohoo, it’s a perfect day today, It’s World Gin Day and here are some fabulous gin’s to spend some time with.

Most of these gins will be at Juniper Fest in Edinburgh.

Not only is the old pharmacy bottle worthy of a purchase, the caraway / fennel crossover mixed with cranberry and woody pine forest notes make this an interesting gin.  To top off its difference, it’s also German!

Pickering’s Gin

This beautiful bottle contains a gin made from a recipe which was handwritten on a fragment of paper in 1947 until Marcus Pickering and Matt Gammell launched Pickering’s Gin in 2013. Infused with 9 botanicals including fennel, cloves and angelica.

Makar Gin

Makar gin was launched by The Glasgow Distillery in 2014 and is  the first new distillery in Glasgow for 100 years. The gin is flavoured with 8 botanicals including rosemary, black peppercorns and cassia bark.

Smooth and spicy with slightly oaky bits and some citrus and mint notes mix with the juniper.  Daffys is named after Daffy the Goddess of Gin and with ingredients such as juniper, coriander seeds, cassia bark, Lebanese mint and lemons.

Rock Rose gin

Produced by the Dunnet Bay distillery in Caithnes.  Rockrose gin uses 18 botanicals.  Rose root, sea buckthorn, rowan berries, mint and hawthorn plus many more.

shetland reel gin

Shetland Reel Gin

Shetland Reel Gin is produced on Unst and is the most northerly distillery in the UK. Botanicals include Apple Mint and Bladderwrack seaweed.  Worth seeking out.

Harris Gin

Another island with a delicious gin.  Harris Gin has an outstanding bottle and is one of the smoothest gins we have ever tasted.  It is well worth sipping neat. Botanicals include Juniper, Coriander, Angelica Root, Orris Root, Cubebs, Bitter Orange Peel, Licorice, Cassia Bark and Sugar Kelp for the seaside taste.
