Whistlefield Inn, Loch Eck – March 2012

Rosie the coo welcome’s you into this traditional Scottish bar.  Busy with families and travellers alike.  The bar menu was quite varied.

Chicken Liver and Bacon Pate with toast or oatcakes and redcurrant jelly £4.95.  Not much of a bacon taste however the chicken livers were there, strong and tasty pate.

Melted brie and haggis bruschetta £4.45 – im not a big haggis fan but pinched a bit of this, the brie certainly helped the haggis taste – Id even think of ordering this next time.

Balmoral Chicken Breast with a whisky sauce £ 8.95.  Chicken was moist, well cooked and not bland at all.  Sauce was creamy.  Mash smooth 🙂

Islay Peat smoked haddock £9.95, hardly see this so picked straightaway.  Moist fish with a crispy batter, chips the usual frozen fare but the fish – outstanding.

Also going for a bottle of Orkney Brewery Corncrake as well as a glass of Houston Breweries Gemini.

Friendly service, lots of parking and a friendly coo.
