Waterside Inn, Glasgow Road, Hurlet – Sep 2009

Where is it:- [googlemaps http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=waterside+inn,+hurlet&sll=55.871833,-4.474648&sspn=0.178751,0.528374&ie=UTF8&ll=55.844868,-4.357796&spn=0.173925,0.528374&z=12&iwloc=A&cid=1271926861306937047&output=embed&w=425&h=350]

Not a bad selection of beers on tap (Calders 70 shilling, Kelburn Goldihops as well as the usual suspects). We decided to have our dinner there as the atmosphere was pleasant. Starters consisted of Minestrone Soup with crusty bread (tasted like it was out of a tin) – for two people and I had Brie in filo pastry with cranberry sauce. Mains were two steak pies with potatoes and veg and a fish and chips. No mention of the fish being breaded and thats what we got, fish was small and didn’t look too happy. Steak pie pastry was nice, gravy didn’t have a taste at all and the steak was dry (!!!), tatties were undercooked and the veg was overcooked. We had a bottle of rose for £13.95 which was left on the table without anything to keep it nicely chilled.

Decided to miss pudding and escape! Thankfully they took one steak pie off the bill as I moaned (starving and I still didn’t eat it!!). Total was £39.60 and very disappointed.
