Wagamama, Silverburn – 20th June 2008

Decided to give Wagamama another go ( ok I’ll admit it we got another 2-4-1 voucher!). Sorry but I once again left not feeling that I had a meal out, I felt the same way I do when I come out of McDoos.

Once again quick service to our seats, although hassled as soon as we put our cheeks on the seat to choose a drink – well im not sure what food i really want first so two seconds to choose what food then what sort of drink would be nice!

For the Man – yasai itame £7.15

griddled bok choi, fried tofu, red and spring onions, red peppers,
portobello mushrooms and beansprouts. served with rice noodles
in a spicy coconut and green chilli soup. garnished with coriander,
mint and a wedge of lime – Nice coconuty base soup although no flavour from the other ingredients – basically soup and noodles 🙁

For myself – ebi kare lomen £8.50

a spicy soup made from lemongrass, coconut milk, shrimp
paste, red chillies, fresh ginger and galangal. served with ramen
noodles and garnished with marinated grilled black tiger prawns,
beansprouts, cucumber, fresh coriander and a wedge of lime

My one appeared to be chinese curry sauce soup – not very coconuty and far too much lemongrass (and i like the stuff) with 5 prawns.

We had gyoza £4.50
five steamed, grilled chicken dumplings filled with cabbage, chinese leaf, chinese chives and water chestnut. served with a chilli, garlic, sesame and soy sauce. Pretty bland definately needed the side sauce and a bit rubbery.

For desserts

The man – pavlova £4.60 – which supposidly had chilli in it – not even a little tingle and for me coconut reika £3.15 – 3 scoops of coconut ice cream with toasted coconut and mango sauce – lovely.

Again rushed from start to end, and it wasnt jam packed so no excuse to harrass (is there ever tho?) and I came out feeling that I couldve made better myself or got out of the local chinese. The only saving grace is coconut ice cream.

Total cost £20.75 (money off coupon and green tea is free for drinking)
