Two Ed’s Easy Diners Set To Debut In Scotland

This Autumn Retro 50s restaurant group Ed’s Easy Diner, is set to open its first Diner in Scotland at the end of the month.

The 4,000 sq foot 150-cover restaurant will launch as a ‘BBQ & Grill’, a new brand extension, currently undergoing a successful trial at Basingstoke. The BBQ & Grill format features a larger menu with a selection of new appetisers including wings, salads and nachos, as well as a grill section of BBQ ribs, steaks and a mac & cheese that sits alongside Ed’s signature burgers. An extended beverage list includes beers, ciders and wines.

The opening also marks the first move into the retail and leisure park sector for Ed’s – a strategic move to capitalise on the all-day dining and increased footfall found at these popular destinations.

Ed’s will work closely with UK employment charity Springboard to target local people in Edinburgh and Glasgow, offering worthwhile, long-term employment and careers. The restaurant group has become synonymous for hiring staff based on attitude, rather than previous experience; a policy that saw them shortlisted for the 2013 Springboard Award for Best Recruitment Initiative.

Kelly Johnstone, Director of The Springboard Charity Scotland comments: “Springboard is delighted to be working in partnership with Ed’s Easy Diner. As a charity, Springboard helps and supports unemployed people of any age into a career in the hospitality industry. We are pleased to be working with Ed’s and the local communities in Edinburgh and Glasgow, to employ people into a great career in hospitality.”

Andrew Guy, CEO of Ed’s Easy Diner comments: “Fort Kinnaird is the perfect location for our diner and we are so proud to be launching our first ever site in Scotland. We have plans to open at least two more Ed’s Easy Diner BBQ & Grills during 2015 in retail and leisure parks, as well as open up to 15 new Diners in shopping centres and busy high streets across the UK.”

Tried Ed’s in St Enoch today. Not cheap but the pulled pork hot dog I had today was very good and the staff were wonderfully helpful. Nice atmosphere too but the music was a touch too loud.
