Trio of staff at Ballathie gain Scholarships

Three members of staff at Ballathie House have gained scholarships for further training from the Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland.

Gail, Deputy Manager at Ballathie House has won a scholarship for a four day course at the Lausanne Hotel School in Switzerland.

General Manager Jody Marshall will take part in a bespoke course run by Switzerland’s Glion Institute of Higher Education, and sous-chef John Peter (JP) Ferguson will attend a four day residential Outward Bound Leadership programme.

The trio received their certificates from top chef Raymond Blanc at HIT’s Emerging Talent Conference at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow.

“The scholarship will give me a unique experience and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to develop myself further by training with the best trainers in their field,” said Gail who started work at Ballathie as a receptionist 15 years ago.

She added: “At the same time I’ll be learning alongside like-minded people who are passionate about what they do. The scholarships are important not only for our own individual development but also for the development of Ballathie as a business.

He commented: “To be awarded this is a great privilege and will progress my career in both the short and long terms.”

The Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland is a charity which helps people achieve their potential within the Scottish hospitality industry.
