Sweeney's on the park, Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow – Sep 2012

Long known as The Bay Horse, this venue has been a pub for a long time.  We ventured in before but weren’t impressed.   This time it was very much different.

Although football was being shown, the crowd appeared mixed and were very polite (considering the awful game this was a bonus).   The decor has been smartened up, more wine bar type rather than dodgy boozer.

Usual suspects on tap (no real ale 🙁  )  with the added bonus of quiz nights, open mic nights as well as tea/coffee and scones.

One to remember if you are needing a warm up after being at the park.

Yes I have notice the change in atmosphere and clientèle in this establishment, and living next door to it they are mostly from a negative view point, I can tell it's a lot busier by the amount of smokers crowding outside the place, and it seems a younger more alcohol fuelled crowd, I know when it's closing time BECAUSE I CAN HEAR THEM! Also the amount of times I have came home to find half-eaten kebab/pish/vomit on the steps of the close, yeah, over the moon about the new place.

Good review of this pub.I have been in it a few times recently and must say it has really improved in terms of decor ,entertainment and clientele.I have never seen vomit or kebabs outside it.Indeed the Door stewards verified this when I asked last night. The clientele have become a lot more up market and I would say from my experience - more mature in age!. It is the sort of pub the area has needed for those in the 30 -60 age group.
