Social Media Week – Wine Tasting at West Brewery

As part of the global Social Media Week  events which aimed to connect people and social media as well as increase awareness/knowledge etc.  Also part of this week was fun.  Due to travelling later in the week I missed the Beer tasting but made it to the wine event.  I am so glad I did.   Where else can you get Waitrose wines and a tutored tasting by Pieter Rosenthal.

The gorgeous surroundings of West Brewery

A selection of six wines to taste, smell and discuss.  Bliss.

The wines on tasting :-

  • Leitz Rüdesheimer Rosengarten Riesling 2010 – Rheingau, Germany
  • Triade Fiano-Falanghina-Greco 2010 – Campania, Italy
  • Trivento Viognier 2010 – Mendoza, Argentina
  • Chateau Ka Source de Rouge 2007 – Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
  • Brazin Old Vine Zinfandel 2008 – Lodi, California
  • Inniskillin Sparkling Icewine – Niagara, Canada
The sparking Icewine was astounding, although not cheap at all at £35  a half bottle!  One to remember for  very special occasion. All the wines went down well and prices can be found here .
Unfortunately technical problems meant that a live stream with chat from one of the winemakers wasn’t possible but the event did stream live to those who wanted to listen to the topic.
An excellent event, and a great way to mingle with other “geeks” in a relaxed atmosphere but still embracing technology and learning!

It was a great event – well done Pieter and was followed up with a beer tasting event the following day. Both events were captured on video and can be seen through the Social Media Week Glasgow Livestream channels here http://www.livestream.com/smw_glasgow2
