Sneak Peek: Wagamama – launch of winter menu 2013

We were invited along for a sneak peak at Wagamama’s new winter menu I didn’t know that the Glasgow city centre branch was so big at the back.  Space for a big party there I think.

Root Juice

beetroot, carrot and orange juice  £3.40 and £4.40

Wow this was healthy!  Wasn’t as sweet as we would have liked it, but something a little bit different

pulled pork gyoza

five steamed, grilled pulled pork dumplings. served with a spiced black vinegar and ginger sauce

£5.85

Tasty gyoza’s with a tangy, gingery sauce.  Could have sat all night with these.

wok-fried greens

tender stem broccoli and bok choi, stir-fried in garlic and soy sauce

£4.25

Very garlicky, a bigger portion would be better here for the price.  However, tasty and perfectly cooked.

mahi mahi curry

grilled fish with sweet potato in a spicy curry sauce…

grilled white fish (mahi mahi to be exact!) in a spicy curry sauce with sweet potato, red and green peppers and mushrooms. served with rice and garnished with coriander cress

£9.95

tender fish, smooth and light tasting curry sauce.   Wasn’t spicy to me, just right for a midweek dinner.

chicken kare lomen

chicken + noodles in spicy coconut soup…

ramen noodles in a spicy coconut and lemongrass soup topped with grilled chicken, cucumber and beansprouts. garnished with coriander and lime

£10.25

This was our favourite.  Big chunks of chicken and a spicy sauce.  Delicious.

half moon pancakes

pancakes with date and orange filling…

two warm pancakes, folded with date and orange puree, dusted with icing sugar and served with cinnamon ice cream forgot the price! cinnamon ice cream went down well with the pancakes.  Fruity, spicy and good Scottish style pancakes.

Iki Beer

£5.65 for 330ml (We believe Wagamama are the only outlet for this beer)

A wheat beer, which went down well with the tasters.

Looks like Wagamama are on the  ball this winter.  With some good portions, spicy and warming dishes and a rare beer on the menu.

We’ll be back!
