Smoak & Scoop’s Street Food Cartel Event – SWG3, Glasgow

Smoak Scoop Events Street Food Cartel Sign We have heard so much about Smoak that we had to go to this event.  So much buzz was created that an extra night was added.  Good quality, American style food has taken off in Glasgow with Smoak and Buddy’s opening in the past year.  Smoak seem to be taking the upper hand here with their purchase of a mobile van in order to take Smoak to the masses.

The SWG3 building was turned into a pop-up restaurant for two nights with both Smoak & Scoop’s food vans on-site.  Entry was £5 which included a free drink on arrival.

It was a bit creepy walking into a dark SWG3, but we soon found the sign inside, if you didn’t know SWG3 you’d be a little stumped tho as it was very quiet outside (perhaps more signage for newbies?).

We soon received our free cocktail, which came wrapped in a brown paper bag, which was fun, and delicious – Ginger Beer, Vodka and St Germain  I think.

The menu recommends 3 dishes per person, we ordered six dishes (but only received 5 but this was removed from our bill),

Smoak Scoop Events Street Food Cartel Butternut spring roll beetroot pesto, feta, toasted hazlenut dukkah
Butternut spring roll,

This was a big hit, creamy squash and feta with a zingy beetroot pesto.  Will have to find out how this pesto was made.

Smoak Scoop Events Street Food Cartel smoked and confit chicken slider, bourbon dipping sauce

Sliders with  mini brioche with bourbon dripping sauce.  Tender, juicy chicken that dribbled everywhere.  Just what I imagined it would be.  Could’ve gone another one of these!

Smoak Scoop Events Street Food Cartel monkfish blt

Crisp bacon, tender moist monkfish.  Loved the dinky size as monkfish can be a little bit too meaty.  Just the right size for sitting munching without the need for the plates and cutlery supplied.

Smoak Scoop Events Street Food Cartel Braised Lamb Neck, Cauliflower Puree, crispy shallots & Gremolata
Braised Lamb Neck, Cauliflower Puree, crispy shallots & Gremolata

Meaty and tender again, cooked perfectly with the Gremolata adding some spark to the braised meat.

Smoak Scoop Events Street Food Cartel truffle mac and cheese with brioche crumb

Thick and creamy, not too cheesy and a bigger portion would have been good 😉

Smoak Scoop Events Street Food Cartel peanut butter parfait with jam sorbet

A wow for this one, beautiful creamy parfait and the sorbet!, another one to try and replicate at home.

Smoak Scoop Events Street Food Cartel white choc cheesecake, raspeberry and bourbon cranachan
white choc cheesecake, raspeberry and bourbon cranachan

Very cheesy cheesecake so Mr M was chuffed.  The cranachan was more like an eton mess than Cranachan but still delish.

The food was delicious, if a little over priced and the wine mark up a little bit on the high side too however it was a great experience and we’d go again.
