Secret Sausages

Vegetables in disguise

Billed as “vegetables in disguise” these are delicious sausage shaped, well, “sausages” but there is no attempt to pretend that these are Quorn-style meat, no, these are clearly made of vegetables and not intended as a meat-substitute for vegetarians. The casing is 100% vegetarian so they’re Vegetarian Society approved.

There are 6 flavours to choose from:

  • Cheese and Spring Onion
  • Chilli and Coriander
  • Cumberland
  • Honey Bee
  • Lincolnshire
  • Rosemary and Garlic

And we tried 3 of them:

Cumberland

Made using onions, green beans, carrots & garden peas. They’re quite earthy-tasting and very herby just like a good Cumberland should be.

Chilli and Coriander

The chilli sausages contain coriander, onions, sweetcorn, carrots and of course chilli which is rather sweet so don’t be put off if you don’t like Asian or spicy foods, there is warmth but it’s a mild pleasant heat and not blow-you-head-off hot, and the coriander isn’t overpowering.

Honey Bee

The honey bee variety are made from a mix of carrots, peas and honey. Again, they’re quite sweet thanks to the honey. So if you want a sweet healthy veggie sausage but aren’t quite sure about the chilli variety try these instead.
