With the lifting of some lockdown restrictions outdoor socialising can come back, and just as the weather is getting nicer as well.

This year the Easter weekend is 2nd to 5th April, and we have some of the country’s leading independent and family-run restaurants, cafes, street food vans and farm shops and their special Easter offerings.

With the lifting of some lockdown restrictions in Scotland to now include outdoor socialising with two households – up to four people – some of the experiences included have been designed to be enjoyed outside in gardens or parks with loved ones.

Edinburgh’s Contini George Street; McLarens on the Corner in Edinburgh’s Morningside; Eusebi Deli in Glasgow; East Coast Restaurant in Musselburgh, East Lothian; The Redshank Catering Company in Inverness and The Storehouse in Ross-shire on the North Coast 500, have all launched mouth-watering ‘dine at home’ and takeaway menus, experiences, activities or offers to help people make the most of the great outdoors this Easter.

Contini has a special Contini Easter Sunday menu. Available for collection from Contini on Edinburgh’s George Street after 1 pm or for local delivery in Edinburgh before 3 pm on Easter Sunday (6th April) only,

Contini’s Easter Sunday menu includes homemade focaccia with I’Ciacca extra virgin olive oil; Burrata with fresh broad beans and roasted hazelnut; roast rump of lamb with salsa verde sprouting broccoli and spring potato; and Bombolini with Amalfi lemon crema Pasticceria.

The vegetarian menu option is pea risotto with fresh mint and Errington’s goat’s curd.

Morningside’s ‘McLarens on the Corner’ has announced plans to stage its first outdoor family Easter egg hunt on Good Friday (Friday 2nd April) from 10 am-1 pm.

McLarens will be offering an Easter-themed set weekly meal club menu, including caramelised onion and rosemary focaccia; Clyde Valley lamb; and an Easter Sundae; as well as a sweet twist on the traditional Scotch Egg and Easter-themed bubble waffles and milkshakes from McLarens’ Scranavan food truck.

Eusebi’s have a six plate picnic brunch experience on offer this Easter.  Start with lamb arancini served with aioli, followed by leek, pea and asparagus terrine, hot smoked salmon cured in-house, new potato salad with a creamy mustard dressing and a fine green bean salad. Finish with a white chocolate and pistachio lollipop fresh from the Eusebi bakery. A vegetarian brunch option is also available.

The brunch menu requires optional heating and comes with handcrafted chocolates as an extra surprise gift. Pre-order by 9 pm on 28th March for local delivery in Glasgow or collection on 3rd and 4th April from the deli. Add a bottle of prosecco or a Eusebi cocktail kit to make it a real celebration. The Redshank is a mobile seafood catering trailer (food truck) based in the Highlands capital of Inverness offering a ‘street food’ approach to freshly cooked, locally sourced seafood & produce.
