Scotland’s Specility Food Show is a yearly event to showcase Scottish Food and allow producers to meet retailers. We ventured along to find out what is vibrant in the Scottish food producing world.
Happily along the way we met people that we knew and made some new friends.
Claire from Berry Scrumptious is a good twitter friend of ours and thankfully after trying her luxury chocolates we are smitten with the combination of chocolate and fruit. We were even spied enjoying raspberry and dark chocolate and this from a strictly milk chocolate fan!
We made new friends with Love Leaf Tea. Gorgeous packaging, great smelling tea and after a proper sit down with a cup tonight, great tasting too.
Another twitter chum is S’aussie, Scottish Aussie sauces. I’ve seen them in deli’s and now had the chance to have a dip. I especially liked the BBQ sauce and may just have to force myself to get some and make some ribs.
Brewhaha teas were there too. It was a loss to the Glasgow cafe scene when their Buchanan Galleries operation closed, however you can still buy your tea online and in many shops. I love their retro packaging, and their earl grey isn’t too overpowering but has got a lovely bergamot taste.
Finally we met up with Henshelwoods Fine Foods who are based in Bute and make Chutneys, Jams and Jellies. We tried a cheese chutney which was so tasty I would just dunk some bread into it. We also tried Strawberry and Rose Jam. The rose gave the jam a turkish delight lift.
We had a great day there, met lots of interesting and passionate about food people. Would recommend attending this in the future. It is on tomorrow (Tues 22nd) and is back next year.
