Food

Visitors to this year’s Royal Highland Show can snack and dine with a clear conscience, as the Royal Highland Food Charter is launched, with the support of each of the show’s on-site caters and the backing of key food industry bodies. The Show has worked with its 37 food traders to ensure every burger, ice cream and crepe is of the highest quality and, where possible, has been locally sourced and ethically farmed

Scotland

Stephen Hutt, Chief Executive of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS), said: “Scotland boasts some of the best natural produce in the world, much of which can be seen, tasted and bought at the Show. The Charter is a positive response to the increasing demand for high quality, locally sourced and ethically farmed food and drink.”

Kids

As well as delicious food, visitors can find out about farming, renewable energy, forestry and the kids have their own learning area at the Children’s Discovery Centre, sponsored by ScottishPower.

The ‘classroom’ at the show will be the Discover Centre, which, with the help of RHET coordinators and volunteers, will present ten interactive sessions. On the curriculum will be cooking, baking, seafood tasting and science experiments.

Quality Meat Scotland will be sizzling up the Centre with the Scotch Beef Cookery Theatre, providing children with the opportunity to learn how easy it is to make tasty, healthy meals using seasonal produce.
