Rishis Indian Aroma, 61 Bath Street, Glasgow

Rishis Indian Aroma Bath Street, Glasgow Inside
Rishis Indian Aroma is located in the centre of town on Bath Street, across the road from BHS and is looking to challenge the established Indian restaurants of Glasgow.  I had passed by earlier in the day and was happy to smell some lovely aromas from inside, a good sign I hoped.
Later in the day I returned back to meet my friend who had arrived earlier.  She was being well looked after by the friendly staff.
Inside we picked a seat and sat down to peruse the menu.
After a chat with the waiter we decided upon a  Plain Dosa (£3.79) A thin crispy pancake made of rice and lentil flour, served with Sambar and chutneys.
as well as  Channa Bhatura (£4.99)
Deep-fried puffed bread made from wheat flour and served with chick peas masala

Wow, the portions were enough for two, or three! You could certainly have a happy crowd in this restaurant.  Both came with flavoursome side dishes.  The chick peas went well with both breads.
After struggling through this, our main courses arrived,
Rishis Indian Aroma Bath Street, Glasgow Tandoori King Prawn TIkka
Tandoori King Prawn Tikka (£6.95/ £15.99)(Starter/Main)
King prawns marinated with sesame seeds, cashew nut, freshly ground spices and yoghurt cooked over charcoal.  Moist and tender prawns with a light charcoal taste.  Beautiful, I haven’t had such nice prawns in a long while.
Rishis Indian Aroma Bath Street, Glasgow Butter Chicken Dopiaza

as well as Butter Chicken Dopiaza (£8.49)

Succulent pieces of chicken in gravy cooked with tomato, special herbs & spices with extra onion, tomato & cream gravy – the chicken again was moist with a very creamy sauce, similar to a Korma sauce so not spicy but with added flavouring to give it depth.
Accompanied with Pilau Rice (£2.99)
Peshwari Naan(£3.79)
Flat Indian bread stuffed with almonds, raisins, grated coconut and pistachios.
We both agreed that the Peshwari was the best one we had tasted, not full of sugary almond paste that glows in the dark.
Rishis Indian Aroma Bath Street, Glasgow full meal
We were stuffed with the food, I’d go for one of the tiffens between two or even three people.  If the food stays to the same standard, I believe a few restaurants will be scared.  Really flavoursome food, friendly staff and very happy reviewers.

Visited Rishi’s today to sample the dosa special (available Monday/Tuesday). Just the plain or Mysore Masala dosai included (plus idli, medu vada and ven pongal) served freshly made on a big thali with chutneys and sambar. As good a meal as I have had for a long time. As you said, generous portions, my only regret was I couldn’t eat more (managed three and a bit things). Will definitely be back to explore the menu further. Especially good for vegetarians.

I visited Rishis Indian restaurant on 03/01/2014 with my family first time. First impression was very good. Price for most of the items were reasonable….but the quality?????????
Paper Dosa was good but Masala in it was not good. Tayiru Vada was too salty. All my family had sickness and diarrhoea from midnight. This is the first and last visit. Never again!!!!!!

food is good .. No doubt.. But these days service has become very poor .. These new waiters always try to rush .. Send us out.. Don’t feel like coming to restaurant these days.. I use to be a regular weekend customer.. But nowadays I’m trying to find alternatives..

I visited the restaurent couple of weeks before on Saturday night around 10pm. tiffins are good .. I have to mention about the service..very poor.. Especially those male ones.. Guess they wanted to leave early so they are always back of us wanting to clear the plates and serve the mains ASAP..worst thing is they switched of the lights on the other sides even though my friend was having his food.. Felt very bad.. Will never come back or recommend to any one..
