La Bonne Auberge, Glasgow

La Bonne Auberge,  is located beside the Holiday Inn Theatreland  and is near to Buchanan Bus Station, a handily placed car park as well as Sauchiehall Street. It had been a couple of years since we had been and our last visit was very enjoyable, so time to go again!

We were greeted quickly and shown to our table.  The decor and ambience was very relaxed and informal, perfect for any occasion.

A couple of wines we on special, so we tried these. Alandra tinto Alentejo and Alandra Branco Alentejo, both were £5.20 each. for 175ml glasses.  Good wines for the style of meal.

We ate from the A la carte menu, however the prix fixe menu was very popular at £18.95 for two courses.  Menus can be found here.

Scottish Venison Loin

Scottish venison loin £24.50
Our only minus point of the night -we didn’t get asked how we wanted it cooked, thankfully it arrived pink.

Moist and tender meat with tart berries. Delicious.

Vanilla Panna cotta

Vanilla panna cotta with kirsch soaked cherries 6.95

Panna  cotta was a bit too wobbly for Mrs Foodies liking.  The cherries very nice and boozy though

Warm Ecclefechan Tart

Warm Ecclefechan tart £6.95 Served with pistachio ice cream

Filling wintery pudding, pastry a bit over-cooked but very nice warm tart
with a wee bit if spice and some smooth ice-cream

Of course we had to partake in the obligatory toilet check!  Both were clean and tidy and fully supplied.  The ladies had additional deodorant, hairspray, cotton wool balls and pads!   Both had Dyson air blade, hand towels, Scottish fine soaps hand wash and hand lotion.

Another fine meal from La Bonne Auberge, some Classic French cooking with a Scottish twist thrown in now and again.  Service was friendly and quick, atmosphere relaxing.  Ideal for a meal before the cinema or an after shopping expedition.
